Preachers Point Road is a small piece of land balanced between two lakes in northern Wisconsin. The magic is not just in the land, its beauty, its remoteness, peace, and healing powers, but also in the other (and few) people who share The Point. Most of The Point people are here only a few weeks, or months, of the summer. From late fall to early spring it's me, my husband, and three other households (seven total people, two total dogs) who linger here full-time...
Hi Rena, I just wanted you to know that I check in with you often and love the pictures. It is so good to see our land in winter. The pictures and stories are great. Thanks for sharing.

Rena and John: Dave just let me know about your blog. I loved the ski pictures. Can't wait to get back.

Rena and John, your pictures are making me wonder why I don't get to the Point more often in the winter. Mostly I want to thank you for promoting a sense of community in that special place.

I have just spent an awesome powder day on Aspen Mountain and yet I find myself very jealous that you get to be there on preachers point! It has been many years since I have been there in the winter...I loved the silence!!!! ...oh ya, there are those pesky snowmobilers. Anyway, thanks for the blog, I can't wait to get back next summer.

Hmm, I'm thinking Klondike Day might not be a place where a vegetarian would feel at home . . .very cool looking though, and amazing that there is so much life and fun going on outside when it is -10! I am LOVING your blog!

Dear Preacher Point Neighbors,
This afternoon, March 14th, we just received a phone call giving us the sad news that Bill Dinkmeyer passed away this morning just days after hip replacement surgery. How we will miss him.

Oh no! That is certainly unexpected! Vicki, I'll add this to the main page today, in case others missed it. I'll also see if I can find his son, Bill's, address here in Three Lakes and post that as well. Sadness...

Great blog, Rena, on a very special, beautiful place, that's for sure. I can see why you moved up there!

So sorry you were under the weather, Rena. And glad you are up and running again. LOVE the spring pictures and the dock evidence. I got a bill from Pierre two weeks ago so knew he had put it in very early this year. What a treat. We will be up in just a little over two weeks. Plan to come over for opening happy hour!

Yea! Two weeks is not very far at all!

Hi Rena, Love the fall pictures and the stories of the wind - and now winter. I am thinking of you. I am also thanking John for his message about the winds and relative lack of damage. He said he would take the chainsaw to my tree across the driveway and I am very grateful. I hope Florida was fun and that you soaked in some sun in anticipation of the coming season. We had 8" of snow yesterday! Biggest November snowstorm in history. It is the wet heavy variety so will hopefully melt in short order. Be well and keep blogging. It keeps you guys and the lake closer.

Whow, that's a lot of snow! It's more than we have, by far. Here it has been snowing for days, but nothing too much on the ground. Florida was amazing, both professionally and personally. Oddly, with the exception of one perfect 85 degree day, it was only 10 degrees differance in weather.

Hi Rena, Is the ice out yet? Snow gone yet? Spring is upon us. I can hardly wait to be up there. I hope you and John are doing well. See you soon. Barb

Hi Barb! Not yet, but soooo soon now. John went on his first bike ride of the season today. The roads are ice-free, if not the lake. : ) I cant wait to see you!

Hi Rena--just loved the trash post and really love your "voice" when you write. It's almost like being with you, but not as good of course. I do have to say that your trash is much cooler than mine. It makes me laugh really hard to think of taking pictures of the crap I have up in the attic. Still, I pledge to view the world with a higher level of trash consciousness, thanks to you. Miss, love you.

What a wonderful place to post messages about this wonderful place. Last time I was up at The Point was in 2000. I can hardly believe it has been so long. So much has happened since than. We need to have a family reunion.
